In Brief – Equity markets and the risk premium (ERP)

Sorgem Evaluation regularly monitors equity markets across several geographical regions, particularly as part of its analysis of the equity risk premium (ERP).

It is worth noting that, to date, most major indices have shown positive trends over the short, medium and long term — a rather rare occurrence.

However, rising indices do not automatically imply a fall in the ERP demanded by investors: changes in earnings prospects (growth, margins, interest rate sensitivity, etc.) remain a key factor in assessing risk and expected return.
