Morning session: “Essential patents for a standard: intangible assets unlike any others”

Maurice Nussenbaum and Blanche Feauveaux, Chairman and Partner at Sorgem Evaluation, co-hosted the morning event organised by the SFEV on 6 March 2024, alongside François Jonquères and Mickaël Da Costa of Simmons & Simmons LLP.

This session provided an opportunity to compare legal and economic perspectives on the subject of FRAND royalties.
It allowed participants to review key case law on the subject in France and internationally, and to discuss the main issues relating to the valuation of standard-essential patents and the concept of FRAND royalties, particularly in light of the European Commission’s proposed regulation on standard-essential patents, tabled on 27 April 2023.
