In July 2017, SES-imagotag announced the signing of an acquisition agreement relating to the purchase by BOE of shares in SES-imagotag from several investment funds. Following this transaction, BOE launched a public takeover bid for SES-imagotag shares, which took place in early 2018.
The offeror is part of BOE Technology Group, a Chinese company specialising in semiconductor displays, smart systems and healthcare services. With turnover exceeding €9 billion in 2016, the group positioned itself as the global leader in LCD-TFT displays for smartphones, tablets and laptops in 2017.
For its part, SES-imagotag is the world leader in smart labels and price automation: the company offers a digital platform enabling retailers to connect and digitise their points of sale, automate low-value-added processes, optimise shelf management and create an omni-channel distribution service.
