Following a year in 2020 marked by the Covid-19 crisis, companies find themselves, at the time of their annual financial close, in a situation characterised by uncertainty, which makes it particularly difficult to determine the fair value of an asset, especially when carrying out their impairment tests.
In this highly unusual context, correctly identifying what constitutes an indication of impairment, selecting the most appropriate approach to determining the fair value of the assets to be tested, and managing the disclosure of information to shareholders are all key steps in successfully carrying out these impairment tests.
