Against a backdrop of rising interest rates and inflation, the practices used by funds to value their holdings are attracting the attention of investors and regulators. Reference to the IPEV guidelines is gaining ground, as is the use of independent experts, both to lend credibility to financial and marketing communications, to better monitor risks and, ultimately, to avoid any unwelcome consequences that might arise from a regulatory audit leading to a penalty.
